There was a significant ice storm in the hills of Etna, and other parts of the Upper Valley, Sunday night. A subsequent post will show images of the destruction and beauty of the storm. Here are several images and a slide show of photos of birds that endured it—redpolls, chickadees, and turkeys. Although the storm happened 4 days ago, the ice still is present.
The photo below was taken today. You can see one redpoll from the flock of around 100 common redpolls still visiting our feeders and scattering sunflower seeds on the ground for their friends as well as the turkeys and squirrels.
