A recent trip along Goose Pond Road in Hanover and Canaan produced a few spring species. In Hanover, along the Marshall Brook inlet to Goose Pond, I found some wood ducks and hooded mergansers.
Here are the Woodies. I was surprised to see how green the head of the female appeared.
Just a bit closer to the pond, in a piece of the brook that still had considerable ice, I found this Hoodie couple.
I was surprised to spot a Woodcock along the road in Canaan. I got a few photos of it just off the road from my car before a huge truck came racing by. After the truck passed, the Woodcock was nowhere to be seen.
