Iridescent Clouds over Hanover

There were some amazing iridescent clouds in the sky around 1 PM today. I photographed them on and off for 40 minutes. Cloud iridescence is a surprisingly common occurrence that is rarely observed.  Perhaps this is because most people don’t like to look directly at the sun. The photo below illustrates that these colorful clouds are seen quite near the sun.
