The Wells River Rumble was held on a beautifully sunny day last Sunday. This is an annual event sponsored by the Ledyard Canoe Club and part of their Riverfest celebration. It was my first time at this event.
I had another event to take part in and photograph on Saturday, so I missed the Mascoma Slalom — an event I have photographed many times. Here are links to the most recent:

As you can see if you view these pages, I really enjoy photographing the slalom using a slow shutter speed to better convey the action. In contrast, I chose to photograph the Wells River Rumble at fast shutter speeds.
After a long wait, the mass start initiated the melee. It was a bit messy. But somehow, in a short stretch of river, the kayaks got sorted out and took the first drop without too many disasters.
