After two years of construction, the new Shaker Bridge over Mascoma Lake opened Saturday. This is the third bridge on this spot. The first was built in 1849 by the Shakers. That bridge was done in by the hurricane of 1938. The second bridge was done in by rust and corrosion.
I took some photos on the bridge while on a brief trip to check out local color in the early morning fog. The photo on the right is from Bog Road Monday. The slide show below shows those I met on the bridge.
