The first Ring-necked Duck photograph I got this season happened this morning in the rain at the West Lebanon Wildlife Area. From time to time this area has revealed some very interesting species. I’ve even photographed a Great Egret there.
But the sun was shining yesterday when I reached Wilson’s Landing in Hanover.
Present were an interesting mixture of mergansers. Common Merganser were seemingly babysitting smaller Hooded Merganser.
When I arrived at the mouth of Grant Brook in Lyme, the sun had not yet reached the first group of Wood Ducks I photographed.
You can compare how much better the colors were 2 minutes later when I got some Woodies in the early sun.
It appears that we will have perhaps 5 or 6 rain-free days after today.
