Muster Field Farm Days

Last Friday I saw some beautiful clouds that provided dramatic leading lines to Burkehaven Light on Lake Sunapee. I was heading for a hike with two friends. After the hike I stopped at my favorite farm stand at Muster Field Farm and noticed vehicles in the fields behind the vegetable and flower gardens. Mel told me this weekend was Farm Days. So Jann and I had to go, and I am sure glad we did.

Farm Days are about ancient vehicles, old cars, carriages, craftsmen and craftswomen demonstrating, and old-timers reminiscing with the younger generation. At one point a friendly stranger told me stories of his mother driving a tractor over a mountain at age 8 and the John Deere he first drove 63 years ago.

But mostly, Farm Days at Muster Field Farm are about kids and young families.

There was a “Slow Tractor Race”.

Two girls were providing tractor rides for younger children and their parents.

There were hay rides, though I did not see any hay.

Stilts were available to use to walk around and get a better view, though most were looking down.

In the garden, Hummingbird Clearwing Moths were busy pollinating the flowers and drinking nectar as they hovered with very rapidly beating wings like their namesake birds.

Here are some of the other photos I took Saturday of Farm Days. Next year I hope to be back both Saturday and Sunday.

Muster Field Farm is located in Sutton, NH above beautiful Lake Kezar with a stunning view of Mount Kearsarge.
