We have been visited by a barred owl several times this winter, but I was very surprised to see it sitting out in the relative open on this below zero morning. I guess it didn’t hear about the wind chill advisory. I could definitely see its feathers moving in the wind as I photographed it during the few minutes it remained in sight. When I examined one of my photos closely, it appeared it had frost around its eyes. Here is a cropped version of one of the images from the brief slide show that follows.
