The Esther Currie WMA in New London, NH is a great place for wildlife: In the Summer, there are dragonflies galore. In the Spring and Summer, ducks and plenty of bird life are plentiful. In the Winter, one can enjoy xc-skiing and snowshoeing.
I visited recently, mostly looking for ducks.
I found numerous Hooded Mergansers.

Here is a collection of other Hooded Merganser photos I took while there.
There was a pair of Wood Ducks checking out a box for a possible nest.

And a different pair that spent a lot of time on a log in the sun.

Two males seemed to be courting one female.

And a pair sat in neighboring dead trees.

Wood Ducks sure look regal.

Here are more of the Wood Ducks I photographed at Esther Currie.
I also found a number of Buffleheads …

… A Song Sparrow in the early morning light …

… and a Common Grackle on a duck box. Grackles can appear very colorful in the sun.

A beaver swam by to entertain me in the very early golden morning light.

Esther Currie WMA at Low Plains in New London is a gem.
