Shadows and Textures on Snow

Staying close to home recently, I observed how light plays on snow and how beech and oak leaves seem to find their way into boot holes.

Sometimes the light is very soft and the shapes in the snow are smooth and sensuous, almost seductive in the dim, blue morning light.

Later in the afternoon when the sun is low and bright, shadows abound and dominate the subtle hues and shapes in the snow.

In some of my posthole boot tracks,  I found beech leaves.

And one lone oak leaf.

A pair of Mourning Doves were almost as soft as the snow.

A brief trip to Norwich to walk our favorite loop yielded more shadows on snow.

Finally, it is off-subject but it is hard to resist a sunset over Killington.
