Monday’s Skies

It seems I was mostly looking skyward two days ago. The day ended with a spectacular sunset over Okemo Mountain in Vermont.

But well before that, in mid-morning, I stopped at Long Wind Farm in Thetford to pick up some tomatoes. The sun behind smoke was too much to resist.

I also took a pair of semi-sky photos while there. Blue sky behind snow and ice…

…and snow reflected in the colored windows of a greenhouse.

Mid-afternoon found us hiking in Norwich and getting another photo of the sky and sun.

At 4:41 PM, the sky over Vermont was dramatic. I shot this 5-photo panorama from Etna, NH.

Nineteen minutes later, the sky had interesting dark streaks.

Here are three more photos of the sunset as it progressed.

All of these photos were taken with a Christmas present from my wife, Jann. It is a “bridge camera”, a Sony RX10 IV. It makes a great “walk-around” camera when I don’t want to carry a heavier one. It has a fast f/2.4-4 lens, and a largish sensor. And its focal length range is greater than any of my other lenses. It does not focus as fast or reliably as my D500, but one can’t have everything. I do like this camera.
