Yesterday morning I photographed a Ford Sayre ski jumping competition at Oak Hill for a magazine. It was a wonderful event filled with cheerful and friendly children and adults.
Shortly before 1:00 I came upon a group of 125 Bohemian Waxwings in Etna. If you care to count them, here is a photo. I did not see any Cedar Waxwings.
Unfortunately they mostly stayed high in the trees. They made two quick trips to the highbush cranberries across the road, but stayed much less than a minute each time.
After these brief feedings they sat in the trees for 10 minutes or so before departing to the south in two groups. Here are a few photos of the short feeding frenzy.
After a late lunch I started to sort through the very many ski jumping photos I had taken. I’m not sure why I looked, but I spotted a barred owl sitting in the woods outside the glass door of my studio. It stayed for several hours, mostly sleeping. Here are a few photos.
