Late December Snow

Although the predictions ranged up to 12-24 inches, we got only about 6-8 inches of snow December 29. The snow stayed on the trees for a few hours the next morning before the wind brought it down. I used this opportunity to get out and take some photos.

I knew I did not have time to travel far so I basically did the “five and dime” loop in reverse — up Route 10 from Hanover to Lyme then back Route 5 to Norwich. But first I had to pass through Etna where I got these photos of barns.

In Lyme I got a photo of another barn across a field.

Near Post Pond I made this 3-shot panorama of an oxbow in Trout Brook.

Also in Lyme I took a photo of the “Wolfe Farm” which is no longer owned by the Wolfe family and perhaps was never called that anyway. Betsy has lived there for years.

I made my way over to Thetford, Vermont and got this photo. It was not snowing; the flakes you see are blowing from the trees behind me.

Just down the road was another scene of blowing snow, this with nice backlight.

In the Pompy area of Norwich I was taken by the lines and patterns of wooden fences. This area is a great place for birds in season.

That afternoon I went XC-skiing along the Rail Trail in Lebanon. I snapped this photo of one of the 10 snowmobiles that I saw.

That evening I got a photo of a house on a hill at dusk.

I hope you enjoyed these few photos from the day before New Years Eve, 2016. I wish you health and happiness in 2017.
