Is this a photo or a painting, or perhaps a digital creation? It looks like a painting or digital creation, but it is a “straight” photo. It was shot with a digital camera, but the image would look much the same if shot on slide film.
So how does one explain the painterly quality of the photo? I believe it is mostly due to atmospheric distortion from photographing with a long lens through a light morning fog.
I took this a week ago on May Pond in Pillsbury State Park. This small park is a hidden gem that few people get to. It has car and wilderness camping, mountain biking, hiking, and paddling on four ponds. Here are a few more photos from a peaceful and beautiful morning.
