A friend and I spent some time Friday afternoon photographing in the Profile Falls area of Bristol, and then briefly hit a few spots in Danbury and Wilmot, NH.
The reflections in the Smith River immediately caught our attention. We took a number of photos of them before turning our attention to the falls. The lighting was wonderful — the river was in shade but the reflected trees were in the sun. Here are a few photos of the reflections.
There are two main viewpoints for photographing the falls. One is up and down a slightly tricky slope on the “wrong” (south) side of the Smith River. This is where we photographed the reflections. Here is a view of the falls from this location.
I like shooting through trees and branches. In the shot below you can see a couple standing at the normal viewpoint for the falls.
Walking to the edge of the falls on the other side of the river, I made another photo looking through trees.
Near the falls now, here are two views of Profile Falls.
We headed west on Rt. 104 and found a huge yellow tree in Danbury.
Then in South Danbury a small ranch in a beautiful spot overlooking Mount Kearsarge.
Finally, we got a great view of Bog Mountain and the bog below it as the sun set.
Here are a few other photos from a cool, windy, and fun fall afternoon in central NH.
