On April Fools Day, Gerry and I hiked up to Tuckerman Ravine on the southeast side of Mount Washington. It was a beautiful spring day, though it was cold and windy. We shared the trail up with hikers, skiers, and snowboarders.
The trail up was beautiful with a waterfall and the open forest seen below.
The wind from the west lifts the snow up and over Mount Washington and deposits it on the east slope including in Tuckerman Ravine which is to the right of this photo.
The photo below shows Tuckerman Ravine from the top of the easy part of the Tuckerman Ravine Trail. Microspikes were fine to this point. Beyond we could have benefited from the snowshoes that were back in my car.

We climbed through snow that was sometimes a thin layer over ice and in places very deep. Skiers made their way up into the bowl.
Gerry got out his camera and took a few photos.
Eventually it was time to head down. The bowl is behind Gerry in the photo below. You can just make out its top edge.
Here are two views of the top of the headwall of Tuckerman Ravine. You can see ski tracks in the snow. Over the next month or two there will be a lot more as the Tuckerman ski season is just beginning!
