Himalayas from the air

I have finally viewed, discarded junk, and renumbered all my photos from Bhutan. At the end of our trip, the flight from Paro to Delhi provided a cloudless view of the Himalayas. We were even treated to a view of Everest without its typical cloud plume.

Everest (29,029 ft) is the dark triangle top center. Lhotse (27,940 ft) is to its right and Nuptse (25,771 ft) to its left.

Near the center of the photo is the “Mother’s necklace”, the beautiful Ama Dablam (22,349 ft). To the left of Ama Dablam are “The Snow Saddle” of Tangtega (22,252 ft) and Thamserku (21,680 ft). Below them are the “Three Snow-White Gods” of Kusum Kanguru (20,889 ft).

Imja Tse, better known as Island Peak (20,305 ft), is at the far right near the top at the end of the Imja Khola Valley. On the far left, the bottom of the Khumbu Glacier can be seen. Behind Everest is Tibet.

THIS PAGE will have links to the various pages of photos from Bhutan that I will post.  So far there is only one page. I hope to have at least one more page up before Christmas.
