A group of 6 very enthusiastic photographers from my fall Photo—SLR class accompanied me on a morning walk through Woodstock Vermont. I was very pleased to see how engaged all were in the process of making photos and learning. As we hiked a short loop I also took some photos. I tried to get a non-touristy shot of Middle Bridge with a little help from Photoshop.
“Mirror” photos like this are actually very easy to do with a basic understanding of layers. Ctrl+J duplicates the background layer. Ctrl+T, right click, and flip horizontal gives the first mirror. Then, using the Crop tool, drag the boundaries to the side to double the canvas size. The Move tool while holding Shift finishes the horizontal part. Flatten or Merge Visible and then repeat the steps for the vertical part.
We were all very appreciative for the free coffee at Gillingham, a Woodstock institution and “hardware” store with nearly everything.
A slide show of some of the photos I took on our walk follows.
