Tigertown Road in Norwich Vermont has a few small ponds that sometimes host interesting birds. A brief stop there recently revealed a solitary sandpiper and a pair of hooded merganser. It was a treat to observe the merganser rapidly changing their crest profiles and, for the male, the size of his head patch.
