Cycling at Dartmouth April 12, 2014 drew hundreds of riders from colleges throughout the Northeast to Hanover. The Time Trials up a steep climb from the Connecticut River to Balch Hill were held in beautiful early morning fog. The Criterium featured sunshine and gusts of wind. I could only stay the morning, but I certainly enjoyed the L’Enfer du Nord event. Two slide shows follow. Please check back later — I may upload more to this post.
It is easy to crank up the ISO and shoot at a fast shutter speed — say between 1/500 and 1/2000 second and freeze the action as in the photos above. But I especially like to shoot at a slow shutter speed — between 1/8 and 1/60 second as in the photos below. I think these gives more of a sense of motion.
