Sugar River Rail Trail

There are three convenient parking areas for Sugar River Rail Trail in Newport:  off Belknap Avenue northwest of the Newport Recreation Department building, where Route 103 crosses the Sugar River heading to Claremont just past Chandler Mill Road, and — my favorite — where Oak Street crosses the Sugar River.  Just past this spot there are a number of parking places and a short walk through the brush from near the first parking place to an old factory filled with very interesting graffiti.

When I park at this place I rarely walk far.  I have found many birds within 25 yards of my car.
