Mascoma Lakeside Park

Mascoma Lakeside Park, at the northern end of the Shaker Bridge over Lake Mascoma, gets better each year. It was a motel, then a staging area for the bridge reconstruction.  Now it hosts sailboats, ice skating, dog swimming area, and events, with a very ample parking area.  Come for sunrise over the lake and stay for birds.

From the parking area head north and look for short trails down to the lake and through a semi-open area.

Then take the rail trail north a short distance to “Main Street Pond” — probably not the official name but one bestowed by Pam Hunt years ago when she lived nearby.

You might spot these and other species in this area.
