Please explore these images taken during a hike up the Tuckerman Ravine Trail to a spot to the right of the Tuckerman bowl on a beautiful spring day — 10 F with 20+ mph wind. You can double click to zoom way in and use the left mouse to pan around. You can also use the + and – keys to zoom and the arrow keys to scroll. Please wait for the resolution to download.
Below shows Tuckerman Ravine from the top of the easy part of the Tuckerman Ravine Trail. Microspikes were fine to this point. Beyond we could have benefited from the snowshoes that were back in my car. You can zoom in to the board on the left and see there was only a “Moderate” chance for an avalanche.
Below you see the headwall of Tuckerman Ravine. The bottom of the bowl is not visible from this spot. If you zoom in to the snow just above the foreground trees you can see ski tracks. The next two panoramas are from the boulder field on the right side of this image.
This 180 degree panorama shows Gerry hiking up the side of Tuckerman Ravine. It is composed of 14 individual images.
This 180 degree panorama shows Gerry descending from Tuckerman Ravine. It is also composed of 14 individual images. The bowl of the ravine is behind him. On the right side of the image is Wildcat Mountain. You can zoom in and inspect the ski trails.
