Ring-necked Ducks Mating

I decided to spend the day sorting through the many photos I had taken in the last few days.  It was of late March, and I knew a multi-day ice storm was coming.  This was the last sunny afternoon we were going to have for quite a while. I kept thinking I ought to go out and finally convinced myself to head down to the shore of Lake Mascoma.

It was a very good move.  I photographed a pair of Ring-necked Ducks mating. The sequence lasted 42 seconds.

This was the second pair of avian species that I photographed copulating in 2025. If you can want to see all six of the mating sequences I’ve taken in the last few years you can go CLICK HERE.
