Here are more pans from Base Camp as we walked around. We stopped for tea at the Adventure Consultants camp and at the National Geographic base camp.
Please explore these panoramic images. You can double click to zoom way in and the left mouse to pan around. You can also use the + and – keys to zoom and the arrow keys to scroll. Please wait for the resolution to download.
If you zoom into the middle of the pan below above the tents you can see some of those who hope to climb Everest getting trained. One would think all would be fully trained before they arrive, but sadly this is not the case. All one needs is 3 spare months and around $100,000 to give it a shot. Most return alive.
After tea and seeing the kitchen and luxurious dining tent, we leave the Adventure Consultants camp.
Here is Chhongba heading to the National Geographic camp to visit his son, Mingmar, and other sherpas. We had tea with Mingmar and Dawa Yangzum Sherpa, both of whom summitted for their first time a few weeks later. If you zoom in you can make out the National Geographic and Montana State flags. The expeditions leader, Conrad Anker lives in Bozeman, MT.
Here is an overview as we were leaving EBC with some of the mountains and other features labeled.
