My wife and I were having a picnic lunch outside yesterday when we heard a Hermit Thrush nearby. So I grabbed my small “bridge” camera (Sony RX10 IV) and got some quick photos. The thrush sure looked scruffy — I guess it is molting season.
While photographing the thrush, a small group of Black-capped Chickadees came by. One had a very strange plumage. Was it just bathing? Is it molting in some unusual way? Or both? I’m not sure.
At the same location in Sunapee, a Red-eyed Vireo came by. It looked normal, but I only heard it sing once. Often they are constant and somewhat monotonous singers.
