I traveled to Lyme yesterday to photograph a non-avian species. While there I was visited by a very laid back Pine Warbler. It moved around near me trying a few different perches, so I was able to get some variety of settings and poses. At one point it casually preened. The photos here were only minimally cropped.
His first perch had a few branch pieces blocking his feet and tail, but I liked his attentive pose and the soft green background.
The second perch was on a branch with its end broken off. But the background was nice and soft.
He moved a bit to the right. Not as good a background, but the broken end was out of the frame.
He was obviously comfortable with me nearby because he took some time to preen.
The sun was in and out, sometimes creating flat light and sometimes casting shadows on the warbler.
It was great to spend a few short minutes with this pine warbler.
