Juvenile Bald Eagle

At Post Pond in Lyme this morning — it’s still covered with white stuff — a juvenile bald eagle flew by me heading north up Clay Brook and out of sight.  Then literally a minute later, another one flew by heading south and landing in a tree on the west side of the pond.

I wasn’t sure if I had seen one or two, but an examination of my photos showed me it was the same bird. I could tell because of the damaged feather on its left wing.

I’m no good at telling the age of eagles, but Blake Allison tells me this is a 2nd year bird.

Here are three photos taken in each of the two directions it flew.
