Bozeman, Montana area in September

The light was dramatic and wonderful the first evening I arrived as a front moved through.  Then it was blue skies, cold mornings, and warm temperatures during the day.  For 4 days I photographed nearby early, met Mom around 9 am, and toured areas not too far away until early afternoon:  Bridger Canyon, Headwaters, Virginia City, Gallatin Canyon and Big Sky.  I made three trips into nearby Hyalite Canyon and also visited the canyons of Cottonwood, Bozeman Creek, and one with a terrible entry road.  Hikes to Triple Tree Ranch and up Kirk Hill provided views of deer and interesting birds. Missed seeing a Catamount, darn.

I love photographing moving water as you can see by these images. My favorite falls was Ousel on the South Fork of the West Fork of the Gallatin River, with the tall Palisades Falls in Hyalite Canyon coming in a close second.

All-in-all, a great trip. And since I spend almost 1/3 of it on airplanes and in airports, I included some from that part of my adventure in this set.
